This existing 5 story 1900’s gaslight factory structure was converted into the residential 19- story condominium with1st floor art gallery and 2nd-floor public space. The structural frame comprised of the lateral resisting steel frame with steel diagonal braced steel shear walls.
This slender structure (aspect ratio of 1:7) was designed to mitigate adverse effects on residents due to natural frequency building vibrations. The existing foundations were underpinned and reinforced for new building loads.
The project was designed in partnership with Lkbureau.
